Living Earth Uganda implemented a programme funded by German Development Services to create and strengthen business linkages between Plastic Recycling Industries and plastic-waste collection businesses in disadvantaged and jointly identified communities in Kampala. Under this programme Living Earth Uganda conducted a baseline survey, sensitizing/raising awareness of communities about waste plastics management, identification and collection methods, adverse impacts of plastics on the environment and health, empowered communities to look at plastic as a resource ( i.e Wealth from Waste), establishment of sustainable plastic collection businesses, and business linkages of collectors with plastic recycling industries.

This is contributing to the environmental clean-up of waste plastic from Kampala, creation of employment thereby generating income to households
