The technical teams, in collaboration with beneficiaries and subject matter specialists from local government, meticulously outlined specifications for all farm inputs. These specifications served as the benchmark for assessing quality during the procurement process.

Selection of beneficiaries and distribution of farm input packages were conducted transparently, with representatives from Project Affected Persons (PAPs), local leaders, and technical teams overseeing the process.

To enhance the managerial capacities of PAP households, on-farm training sessions and exchange visits within the community were organized. These initiatives facilitated the sharing of knowledge and experiences among peers, ensuring effective utilization of distributed input packages. Distribution was phased or aligned with the capacity of individual PAP households.

“We maintain close collaboration with government agencies to ensure that all inputs distributed to the community meet the required standards,” emphasizes Joseph Kamusiime, the Field Coordinator. [Graphical representation of Joseph Kamusiime]

From the project’s inception, a team of experienced professionals spanning various disciplines related to the Agricultural Support Services Project (AgricSSP) was recruited, trained, and deployed for implementation. Recruitment was needs-based, allowing for timely scaling of the team as project requirements evolved.

Initially comprising four members, the team managed key project output areas such as crop management, livestock management, and community liaison.

Mobilization of Project Affected Persons (PAPs) and categorization into preferred project areas, such as crop management, livestock management, and tree management, marked early accomplishments of the project.

“We engage with stakeholders at various levels, from district to local government, seeking their input and support. This collaborative approach instills confidence that our activities meet required standards,” affirms Joseph Kansiime, the Field Coordinator and Senior Agronomist.
